UFC 136: Edgar vs Maynard III is an upcoming mixed martial arts events to be held in the Ultimate Fighting Championship on October 8, 2011, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The event will coincide with two days of UFC Fan Expo to be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
The Pay Per View offers the UFC this Saturday offers not one but two title fights, a third match between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard for the lightweight title, and another opportunity for Kenny Florian to get a belt UFC as he takes on Jose Aldo for the featherweight title. In addition, this card features a middleweight title between former No. 1 middleweight contender Chael Sonnen and Brian Stann, and lightweight contender Nam Phan and Leonard Garcia. Josh Grispi is expected to face Matt Grice at the event, but was forced Grispi from the fight and was replaced by Nam Phan. Grice also was forced from the board with an injury and replaced by Leonard Garcia.
Nick Catone expected to face Aaron Simpson at the event, but was forced off the card with an injury and replaced by Eric Schafer.
Dave Herman was scheduled to fight Mike Russow in the event, but the fight was canceled after Herman failed in its preliminary drug test which tested positive for marijuana. Herman denied the use of the banned substance.
